Essential Oils

The best moments of a yoga practices are hidden in their surprises. I cherish moments when an instructor adds an innovative transition I had never thought of; when I am offered a new and accessible entrance to arm balances or hand stands; and when one simple cue suddenly makes me understand an asana better. But above all those things, one surprise is never expected but always welcome. Behold….the Sivasana adjustment.

You have just finished a grueling practice. You are sweaty, exhausted, and just a little out of it (i.e., yoga drunk). You lay on your mat with feet spread apart and palms facing up to receive the benefits of practice. Just as your mind quiets and your body stills, a waft of lavender drifts by. Then warm hands massage your neck, adjust your resting position, and you are left with the lingering tingle of eucalyptus and smell of calming lavender. And the blend takes effect. You drift away from the present moment to an alert state of rest, relaxation. You are simultaneously and intimately aware of your body while still remaining in utter Nirvana. Was it the practice, the oil, or the massage that transported you to such a state? One will never know.

But what I do know is the unique blend of oils that makes this happen – Aura Cacia “Chill Pill”

Aura Cacia Chill Pill

I have used this blend (sweet orange, lavender, chamomile, eucalyptus, etc.) for various purposes. I rub it into my hands before yoga adjustments, run it through my hair after the shower, and dab it on my temples before bed. The essential oils contained within that bottle serve to relax and reflect.

So next time you find yourself stressed or anxious, grab a bottle of Chill Pill.
